Abstract
652,020. Textile twisting spindles; antiballooning arrangements. SCRAGG, Ltd., S. & E., and SCRAGG, F. Nov. 4, 1948. No. 28628. [Class 120(ii)] A textile twisting machine of the kind in which yarn passes through a hollow belt driven spindle and over the periphery of a disc or spreader to a yarn guide disposed co-axially with the spindle has an antiballooning ring co-axial with the spindle and mounted so that it remains co-axial when the spindle is moved into and out of its operative position. The yarn supply bobbin is carried by a weighted casing B freely mounted on the spindle A driven by a belt H. The spindle A is mounted on an arm D pivoted to an arm E integral with an arm F carrying a member K, to which the ring J and a thread guide S are pivoted. Member K is slidable on arm F and is connected by a link L to a slide M supporting a block N, provided with a cam face N', which engages with one end of a rod O, the other end of which engages the pivoted arm D and is so arranged that when slide M is slid towards the guide S, the driving pulley G of spindle A is moved out of engagement with the belt H and member K along with ring J are raised simultaneously with spindle A by the movement of pins P in slots Q. Where the belt H drives the spindle A from above the pulley G, the spindle A and ring J are arranged to be simultaneously lowered.
