Abstract
651,795. Lasts for moulding and vulcanizing shoes &c. BATA, NARODNI PODNIK. Jan. 13, 1948, No. 985. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] A vulcanization last 1, Fig. 1, for use in the manufacture of shoes having a pressed-on sole and upper border, is of the type having a groove 5 extending along a line level with the edge of the upper border of the shoe to be moulded as defined by the outer mould part, the groove being provided with an elastic filling member. A filling member 2 for a last of this type is manufactured from a vulcanized rubber mixture, e.g. a synthetic silicon-rubber (elastomer) mixture, and is secured in the milled groove 5 by means of sheet steel distance pieces 3, Fig. 4, which engage the sides of the member 2 particularly in places where the periphery of the last forms an arc having its centre outside of the last. The ends of the member 2 are secured by prongs 4 which project from the bottom of the groove 5. Various other constructions and shapes of distance pieces are also described, see Figs. 3, 5, 6 and 7 (not shown).
