Abstract
651,142. Creels. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. April 8, 1948, No. 9890. Convention date, April 8, 1947. [Class 142(iv)] A yarn package is supported in a creel so that it can be drawn backwards and then rotated to facilitate doffing, whilst the uprights 4 are retained in close juxtaposition. Supporting, units mounted on the uprights comprise each a plate 9 having two slots 12 and two yarn package holders which slide along the slots. Each holder consists of a bracket 21 and a spindie 23 which receives the yarn package and upper and lower plates 17, 18 secured together by two bolts which pass through the appropriate slot 12. The rear end of each slot 12 has an enlargement 13 to accommodate the bolts securing plates 17, 18 when the bracket 21 is rotated prior to doffing. The enlargement 13 has projections which engage the bolts and thereby limit the arc of movement of the bracket. A handle 22 is formed on the bracket by turning over the top portion. Recesses 16 in plate 9 engage balls on the plate 17 and balls are also provided on plate 18 to act as bearings when the bracket 21 is moved to release the balls in plate 17 from the recesses 16.
