Abstract

651,104. Cigarette rests. LEONG, C. H. Nov. 4, 1948, No. 28701. [Class 130] A cigarette support and extinguisher, which may be clipped or permanently secured to an ashtray, comprises a curved metal trough 1 and a pivoted flap 2. Insertion of a cigarette raises the flap 2, which may be weighted or spring-loaded and holds the cigarette in position. If the cigarette burns away until its lighted end reaches the end of the flap, the conduction of heat therefrom through the metal slowly extinguishes it. 'To facilitate extinguishing a cigarette, a projection 2c may be formed on the under side of the flap, and a finger button 4 provided for pressing the flap on to the lighted end. The flap may be provided with a tailpiece 2d which, on rotation of the flap by means of a knurled wheel 3a on its pivot, ejects the butt of an extinguished cigarette from the trough 1.
