Abstract

941,354. Ashtrays. D. H. McDONALD. March 23, 1962 [April 13, 1961], No. 11145/62. Heading A2M. An ashtray comprises a bowl portion 10 and movable arms 13 swingably mounted on a platform 12 and having cigarette extinguishing recesses 15 therein. After a stub has been extinguished by insertion into a recess 15, a button 17 is pressed. The button 17 is attached to a rod 22 which passes through an aperture 23 in the arm 13. Depression of the button 17 and consequently rod 22 causes the arm 13 to rotate about an axis 14 so that the extinguished stub is ejected into the bowl 10. A stop member 24 is provided to limit rotation of the arms 13.
