Abstract

650,385. Washing drinking glasses. BOESSER, M. April 7, 1948, No. 9802. [Class 138(i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A drinking glass washing-machine comprises a draining tray, central bowl and a vertical water supply tube centrally placed in the bowl and provided with a spraying head having a valve therein closed by a spring and opened by the weight of a glass so that the interior of the glass is washed. A pipe 13, provided with a spraying head 14, (see Group XXIX), is centrally disposed in a bowl 11 which is associated with a fluted draining tray 10. A pipe 24 formed in a helix around the outside of the bowl has four tubes 25, 26, 27 and 28 which protrude into the bowl and each of which terminates in a spherical portion to which is fitted an adjustable spraying nozzle, (see Group XXIX), in order to allow for spraying different shapes of glasses. A glass is supported over the vertical pipe 13 on a wire frame holder 16 rotatable about the pipe. The weight of the glass operates a spring plunger valve within the head 14 which allows water to pass from the pipe 13 to the spray nozzles in the head. Water is fed to the pipes 13 and 24 from a main control valve 23 operable by a foot pedal 34 against the action of a spring 35. A detachable conical shaped collar 12 is provided at the top of the bowl to prevent glasses on the draining tray from slipping into the bowl and also from being contaminated with dirty water during the spraying operation.
