Abstract

650,239. Bolted joints. WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS, Ltd., and- WILLIAMS, J. FOX-. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27697. [Class 83 (iv)] A girder, shown as an extruded aluminium alloy glazing bar of the type described in Specification 636,852, [Group X], has the inturned flanges A<SP>8</SP>, that engage under the heads of the bolts that secure the bar to supporting bars F, initially sloping towards the base A<SP>5</SP> of the channel. When the bolts are tightened the flanges A<SP>8</SP> are deformed locally preventing lateral sliding of the bolts and tending to prevent the bolts from turning during tightening of the nuts.
