Abstract

649,524. Phase modulation. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. June 4, 1947, No. 14789. Convention date, June 7, 1946. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XL (a)] The carrier oscillations of a discharge tube of the inductive-output, density-modulated type are phase-modulated by means of a cylindrical electrode 7 situated between the control grid 3 and an accelerating electrode 5. A cavity resonator 8 surrounds the tube and has an output loop 11 and a feed-back connection 9 to the tunable grid circuit. The modulating voltage of 50-80 volts is superimposed on the mean voltage of 500 volts of the electrode 7, the accelerating electrodes carrying 4000 volts.
