Abstract

648,654. Bottling-machines. RYLANDS ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and FULFORD, H. F. Sept. 21, 1948, No. 24701. [Class 125(ii)] Bottles are moved to and from the bottle holding platforms of a rotating table filling and stoppering machine by a pair of arms carried on a vertical shaft which extends through the fixed platform of the machine and is actuated by adjustable cams carried on the rotating table, the arms being yieldably secured to the shaft and also being able to lift vertically should they foul an obstruction. In the form shown, the machine comprises a rotating table 2 around which are spaced bosses 3 each carrying a pillar 6 supporting a bottle holding platform 4. A bottle is loaded on to and one unloaded from a platform 4 simultaneously, by a pair of arms 25 carried on a shaft 12 which extends through the fixed platform 7 and carries a cam follower 11 at its lower end. The shaft is given a to and fro movement as table 2 rotates by adjustable cams 9, against which the follower is urged by spring 13. To avoid damage if the arms 25 meet an obstruction during their movement, they are pivotally secured by pins 26 to a plate 24 so that they can lift vertically and the plate 24 is driven by a spring urged pin 22 which can ride up out of the groove in the plate. The ends of the arms 25 have adjustable bottle grips 28, 29. The fixed platform 7 may be provided with platforms 33 and 34 which lift the bottle into engagement with a syruping nozzle and capping head respectively.
