648,560. Belt gearing. BERGQUIST, N. OSept. 18, 1948, No. 24499. [Class 80(i)] A flat driving belt 1 engaging with a cylindrical surface of a pulley 4 has one or more longitudinal ridges 2 extending the length of the belt and running in a groove or grooves 6 around the pulley. The lateral size of each ridge 2 is such that in its tangential relation to the pulley it does not entirely fill the space of its groove 6 but when bent around the pulley it is deformed to grip the sides of the groove to increase the driving friction.
