Abstract

To strengthen the crossing points of a thread guide drum having shallow grooves crossing deeper grooves, a wear-resistant inlay of sheet form is arranged to form the base of each shallow groove where it opens into the deeper groove. Each inlay may be of semi-circular form such that its chord coincides with the wall of the deeper groove or is let slightly into the wall. The flat uppermost face of each inlay may be notched to form part of the wall surface of the shallower groove with which the thread comes into contact.
