648,507. Carrier cartons and bags. WOLVERHAMPTON BOX CO., Ltd., and HALLCHURCH, R. T. Sept. 29, 1948, Nos. 25315 and 26929. [Classes 18 and 133] In a carrier carton, the top of which is closed by overlapping portions 3, 4 on opposite sides of the carrier and held closed by a handle 5 secured to the inner overlapping portion 4 and passing through a slit 10 in the outer overlapping portion 3, the slit is curved or bent at its ends so that notches 12 in the edges of the handle are engaged by the material of the portion 3 adjacent the ends of the slit. The handle may have flanges 6 secured by stitching or adhesive to the portion 4 or may be engaged with this portion in a similar manner to its engagement with the portion 3. The invention may be applied to paper carrier bags in which case the handle may be integral with the inner overlapping portion.
