648,350. Cutting slices in succession. METCALFE IDEAL PRODUCTS, Ltd., and McMILLAN, J. Feb. 9, 1948, No. 3689. [Class 28(ii)] A holder 22 of a meat slicing machine comprises two spiked plates 24, 25, spaced by channel members 26 through which passes a spindle 21 about which the holder rotates to bring either short or long spikes into engagement with the meat. The spindle, which passes midway between the planes containing the tips of the two spike sets, is secured to a support 20 pivoted on an arm 16 which slides by gravity, or under the action of a spring, down a pillar 14. An edge 28 of the plate 25 engages ledges 29, 31 on the support to hold the device firmly in either of its alternative positions, rotation of the holder being preceded by sliding it axially along the spindle against a spring 30 in a cap 33 to disengage the ledge. The support is held in its uppermost position by a catch 18, and may, together with the holder, be swung to the back of the feed table 12. Specification 648,349 is referred to.
