Abstract

Drawings to Specification [Class 137] [Also in Group XII] In an apparatus for conditioning air, wherein the air is humidified by vapour from a water-containing pan in a casing which encloses also a fan for moving air from the casing inlet, past electrical heaters to the casing outlet, the water level in the pan is maintained constant by a bird fountain feed system. The bird fountain is arranged in a supply tank which is either entirely separate from the air-conditioner and is connected to the pan by a pipe, or is mounted on the casing of the conditioner. The casing carries externally arranged devices for controlling the air-heaters in accordance with the temperature of the surrounding air, and for controlling electric heaters in the pan in accordance with the temperature and humidity of the surrounding air. Gases, other than air, may be conditioned, e.g. ethylene used in fruit-ripening chambers.
