Abstract
646,345. Washing and drying-machines. SLACK, M. H. Oct. 30, 1948, No. 28203. [Class 138 (ii)] A lid or cover for a domestic washing- machine comprises a support b for a table top, which support is formed of an aluminium or aluminium alloy pressing or stamping rectangular in shape and having an upturned flange b' on its inner surface at each of its four edges to which the downturned flanges of the top are secured. A rectangular wooden frame or wooden blocks B<SP>2</SP> may be secured to the support b by screws which secure brackets B<SP>1</SP> thereto, and by further screws securing a bracket B<SP>3</SP> along one edge. The brackets B<SP>1</SP> are pivoted on the machine so that the lid may, enclose a folding wringer when in its folded position, the bracket B<SP>3</SP> then resting on the wringer, Fig. 1 (not shown). The support b is formed with an embossed central panel b<SP>2</SP> which may be polished.
