Abstract

717,316. Washing-machines. HOOVER, Ltd. April 25, 1922 [May 9, 1951], No. 10904/51. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXII] The upper edge S, Fig. 2, of the outer casing C of a washing machine has its corners V, Fig. 3, bent separately, (see Group XXII), from the rest of the casing and secured thereto, as by spot welding. The gaps S', formed in the edge S to receive, the corners V, need not extend the full depth of the edge. Reinforcing strips U may be secured to the edge S or be a folded-over extension thereof. A strip of rubber or the like T, Fig. 5, is positioned around the edge S to form a cushion for a lid G. The back wall of the casing C has a removable panel.
