Abstract

645,885. Lampshade carriers. BELL, T. F. P., KEMBER, R. C., and THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1947, No. 31368. [Class 75(ii)] In the arrangement for connecting a lampshade to a lampholder, comprising a spider 10 secured to the lampholder and a lampshade part 13 having a shaped aperture 18, 19, which slides over the spider in one co-axial angular relationship and which engages with the spider when rotated relatively thereto, the spider is reversible on the lampholder to vary the axial position of the lampshade part with respect to the lampholders. As shown the spider 10 is a cup-shaped member having three flat radial lugs 12 equi-spaced around the periphery of its lip. The part 13, which is a member integral with or separate from the lampshade, has an inverted cup-shaped body 14 the base of which has the notched aperture 18, 19 corresponding with the spider 10. The parts of the base between the notches 19 may be formed on the inside with either inverted radial channels 20 forming seatings for the spider lugs 12 when engaged therewith, or holes (not shown) to engage locking pins projecting from the lugs 12.
