645,762. Drilling rock &c. SISKOL MACHINES, Ltd. July 5, 1948, No. 18025. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] In a machine for cutting rock in which the machine is associated with an anchorable unit and is movable relative thereto, wheels in contact with the ground enable it to be manoeuvred about the anchorage. As shown, a rotary drill B is mounted on a carriage comprising a pair of wheels 11 which may be slewed by shoes 31 mounted on a rack-bar 24 co-operating with a pinion 25. The carriage is mounted on guides on a rack-bar 14, pivoted about an anchor 20, and may be advanced and retracted by a pinion meshed with the rack-bar 14. The drill may be mounted for pivotal movement in a vertical plane and may also be adapted for vertical movement on the wheels.
