[Class 29] [Also in Group II] In an ice-cream freezer comprising a container 1 cooled by a coil 2 welded to its exterior and having scraper blades 36, 37, the operating mechanism for the scraper is contained in a closed housing 3 located wholly or partially in the upper part of the container 1 or just above the container and formed with a taper towards the container wall. A spindle 18 driven by a motor 8, inclosed in a sleeve 16 and fixed to the housing 3, rotates the housing. Another spindle 20, in line with the spindle 18 is fixed in a crossbar 21 and, due to the rotation of the housing 3, drives cams 28, 29 through a gear train 23...27. Through rollers 32, the cams oscillate spring-loaded rods 30, 31 to which are attached the scrapers 36, 37 which are thus pressed intermittently against the container 1. The shaft 18 incorporates a dog-clutch 17 so that the mechanism can be removed from the container 1. In a modification, the held spindle 20 passes down through the spindle 18 and is secured in the frame of the machine. In a further modification, Fig. 3, the spindle 20 drives through a worm coupling 42, 43 and gearing 44, 45, 49, 50 a rotary scraper 41. When the container 1 is rotary, the housing 3 is fixed and the spindle 20 is driven, through reduction gearing if necessary, by the motor driving the container. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the construction with a rotary container in greater detail. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
