644,774. Logarithmic circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and THOMAS, E. R. July 31, 1946, No. 22826. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (vi)] A circuit for producing an output voltage proportional to the logarithm of a given alternating input voltage comprises a pentode or other high impedance valve to the input of which the given voltage is applied and having a resistor in its output circuit whose value varies inversely with the voltage applied to it. In the circuit described, the given voltage is fed to the grid of the valve and the resistor which is a disc of silicon carbide is connected through a blocking capacitor between the anode and cathode, the output being taken from across the resistor.
