Abstract

643,809. Supports for ceramic ware during firing. LOVATT, W. M., and LOVATT, J. W. A. March 18, 1948, No. 8052. [Class 87(i)] [Also in Group XII] Ceramic ware is sup ported during firing or shelves carried by vertica posts, each post compris ing a plurality of sectiona lengths 9, 10, 11, Fig. 2 assembled one above the other by interengaging castellated ends 13 except for adjacent ends of two sections 11, 11, which are provided with interengaging axially extending helical portions 12, Fig. 4, so that by turning one of the sections about its axis relatively to the other an adjustment in the effective height of the post is obtained. The lower section 11 is provided with a centering pin 14 which is supported by webs 15 at one end of each section. A disc 17 for supporting a shelf 29 is mounted on top of the post and is provided with internal lugs 19, Fig. 5, the undersides 21 of which are helical for cooperating with the adjacent section 11. The castellated ends 13 may be replaced by axially projecting spigots, while in a further modification, Fig. 8, sectional lengths 25, 26 are used the lengths 26 having at one end a central projection 27 adapted to fit in a recess in an adjacent length.
