Abstract

643,592. Centrifugal fans. BOBARD, E. Feb. 11, 1948, No. 3982. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1947. [Class 110(i)] A fan 10 which is driven by the axle 4 of a vehicle wheel 7 is mounted within a twopart casing which forms the fan housing 2 and a step-up gear housing 2<SP>1</SP>, bearings 5, 5<SP>1</SP> being provided at the opposite end of the casing to support the axle 4, the fan 10 and the last step-up gear 25 being connected to a hub 11 mounted loosely on the axle 4. The drive is transmitted from a gear 12 rigid with the axle 4 to the gear 25 by way of intermediate gearing carried by a disc 16. The gearing is brought into operation by braking the disc 16 by means of a band 17 controlled by a lever 20.
