[Class 80(iv)] A circular saw a carried by a pivoted arm b is enclosed by a sheet metal guard d gapped on each side to allow the saw to pass through the work piece. The rear gap is covered by a sheet metal guard o secured to the clamp f holding the work stock e. The forward gap is covered by a pivoted flap h whose lower edge is provided with a lip covering the saw teeth. An arm j secured to the pivot spindle k of the flap is formed with a cam surface adapted to coact with a fixed post n to open the flap when the arm b is lowered to bring the saw into the cutting position. The flap is closed, upon raising of the arm b, by gravity or by a spring p.
