Abstract

641,666. Teats s for feeding-bottles. SEARER, H. J. Aug. 27, 1947, No. 23678. Convention date, Jan. 14. [Class 125(i)] A nipple for a nursing bottle is integrally formed with a tubular portion projecting inwardly towards the interior of the bottle, to prevent incoming air from being withdrawn with the outgoing liquid. In one embodiment, Fig. 3, the nipple 16 is secured to the bottle 10 by a cap 13 and has an inwardly extending tubular extension 25, vents 27 for admitting air being provided around the breast portion 19. In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the inwardly projecting portion 40 engages the inside surface of the bottle neck 32 and forms an annular cavity 42 which communicates with the atmosphere by means of vents 43. The edge 41 of the portion 40 is constricted to facilitate its insertion into the bottle and to prevent air bubbles, passing into the bottle from the cavity 42, from rising into the stream of liquid being withdrawn.
