Abstract

640,927. Compound sheet materials. KENTILES, Ltd., COLLEDGE, I. H., and YOUNG, A. P. June 9, 1947, No. 15151. [Class 140] Compound sheet materials are produced by impregnating layers of woven mineral or vegetable fibres such as jute, metal wool or glass wool, with a cement slurry, superimposing the layers and subjecting them to pressure. The article may be dried with or without the application of heat. An outer layer may be provided composed of a sheet of paper, woven material such as butcher's linen or rayon cloth, wood veneer or metal foil which is subjected to the consolidating process and which may have a pattern printed or embossed on it. The impregnated material may be wound on a mandrel to produce a hollow laminated column or pipe.
