640,861. Hinges. UNIVERSAL METAL PRODUCTS, Ltd., and BIDDULPH, M. Sept. 15, 1948, No. 24205. [Class 65(ii)] [Also in Group XVII] In a moulded article comprising two parts hinged together, one part has a boss with a slot, to receive the hinge pin, extending from the outside over the whole of its length and the other part has two bosses through which the pin passes, these bosses being slotted to be of open jaw form and being rounded to engage surfaces on the first part to hold them against the pin. In the embodiment shown, the lower part a of a compact has an upstanding boss b with a slot c opening into it from the under side and is recessed at g to receive bosses depending from the edge of the lid and formed with slots which are open upwards when the lid is closed. The bosses on the lid are shaped to abut against the side h of the recesses g to limit opening of the lid.
