640,761. Water pistols. ARPIN, J. W. Aug. 10, 1948, No. 21044. Convention date, Jan. 29. [Class 132 (iii)] A water pistol has a resilient tube 11 connecting a front nozzle 29 with a water reservoir 10 in the handle, and a trigger 19 raises a channel bar 18 to pinch the tube against an abutment 16 and close off a forward length of the tube, which is then compressed against an abutment 24 to expel water through the nozzle 29. The front of the rubber tube 11 fits over a tubular nipple 26, the front of which is normally closed by a spring-pressed ball 25, so that when on release of the trigger the tube expands it is again filled with water. The bar 18 is supported by lugs 30, 31 moulded in each half of the pistol, and similar moulded lugs 35 hold the bar and tube centrally in the pistol. The trigger 19 has a web 21 engaging a lug 17 on the bar 18 and turns on a pivot 20 formed by lugs moulded in the pistol sides, which are finally joined by solvent softening of the edges and pressing together. The reservoir 10 has a filling hole 45 with an air vent or loose cork.
