I TOY PISTOL-OR GUN,
Application filed March 10, 1926. Serial No. 63,668.
My invention 'a gun. I,
An important object of the invention is to Provide a device of the above mentioned character which is extremely simple and inexpensive and will be interesting and amusing to a child.
Other objects and advantages of the invenrelates to a toy pistol or tion will be apparent during the course of j n1entof my invention the numeral 5 desigpreferably integral. adjacent to its top, the handle 7 has .a cut nates a pistol or gun, preferably formed of Wood, embodying a barrel 6 and handle 7 At its rear edge, and
out portion or recess 8, affording a lower shoulder 9 and an upper shoulder 10.
The numeral 11 designates a trigger, whichis free froni'pivotal connection with the handle 7, is arranged at the rear of the same, in contact with the shoulder 9 and is adapted to turn upon this shoulder. The trigger 11 is held upon the handle by an elastic band 12, as shown.
The numeral 13 designates a. self-acting projectile, in the form of an elastic band, the forward end of which is adapted to be looped over the forward end of the barrel 6, which is preferably provided with a. notch 1-1, as shown. The elastic band 12'is p-ref-' crably heavier than the elastic band 13, so that it will hold the rear end of this elastic band 13 when it is placed under tension. The rear end of the elastic band is not looped over the shoulder 10 but is simply placed in engagement therewith, and clamped thereto by engagement with the upper end of the trigger 11.
In the operation of the device, the rear end of the elastic band 13 is first placed between the shoulder 10 and trigger 11, and .will be held between these parts, by the action of the elastic band 12, and if desired, pressure may be applied thereto, by the user, when stretching the elastic band 13. The
forward end of the elastic band is looped upon the forward end of the barrel 6. -The r device is held like the ordinary pistol and the operator pr'esses'the lower end of the trigger 11, releasing the elastic band, which projects forwardly as is obvious.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention, herewith shown and described.
same, and that various changes in the shape,
is to be taken as a preferred example of the size and arrangement of parts may be re- 3 sorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the'snboined claims. I
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A toy pistol or gun having a barrel and handle, a trigger arranged adjacent to the rear end of-the barrel and turning upon a por-.
tion of the handle, an elastic element to move the .upper end of the trigger toward the rear end of the barrel, and a self-acting elastic projectile having its forward end adapted to detachably engage the forward end of" the barrel and its rear endadapted to be detachably held between the rear end of the barrel and trigger.
2. A toy pistol or gun having a barrel and handle, said handle having a shoulder, a trigger .adapted to turn upon the shoulder and free from pivotal connection therewith, an elastic element surrounding the handle and trigger and adapted to move the upper end of the trigger toward the rear end of. the barrel, and a self-acting elastic projectile having its forward end detachably engaging the forward end of the barrel and its rearend adapted to be detachably held -between the adjacent ends of the barrel and trigger.
I 3. A toy pistol or gun having a connected barrel and handle, said handle having a recess at the upper end thereof adjacent the rear end of the barrel, said recess affording a lower shoulder and an upper shoulder, a trigger arranged at the rear of the handle and engaging the lower shoulder to turn there on, an elastic band surrounding the handle and trigger, and a self-acting elastic projectile detachably engaging the forward end of the barrel and having its rear end adapted to be clamped between the upper shoulder and trigger.
In testimony whereof I aflix 111 si ature.
