Abstract

640,594. Belt gearing. DEHN, S. G. Feb. 23, 1948, No. 5329. [Class 80(i)] A load ring R for a V-belt pulley 8 is of resilient material and is accommodated in the inner portion of the pulley groove so as tc bear on the inner surface of the belt. The cross-section is such that when the belt B is unloaded a portion of the ring R is spaced from the pulley walls 6, but upon loading of the belt the ring is deformed and engages the walls. The ring may be circular in section, trapezoidal with concave sides, or may have a flat top and sides and a convex arcuate inner surface. Each form of ring may have a circular annular cavity 9.
