Abstract
640,391. Electromagnetic relays. ZANDER, R. A., and KARLSTROM, H. O. Sept. 25, 1947, No. 26062. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1943. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Group XXXIX] In an electromagnetic relay, a hairpinshaped member 4, the shanks of which form selecting fingers, is associated with each pair of spring contact sets. The members 4 are supported by studs 3 on a frame 2: fixed to the armature 1 and the ends of the shanks extend into holes in a holding bar 5 and embrace studs 6 between the holes, as shown. If the armature is attracted with the fingers in the position shown, the bar 5 moves upwards into cutouts 10 in devices 9, none of the contacts being actuated. If, however, a selecting bar 7 is rotated in either direction, an actuating member 8 having a pointed tip and carried thereby moves a shank of a member 4 into position between the bar 5 and the device 9 so that upward movement of bar 5 lifts the device 9 to actuate the contact springs. The actuating member 8 is released from member 4 when bar 5 moves upwards due to the simultaneous downward movement of frame 2.
