[Class 83 (iii)] A holder for milling-cutters and the like and of the type employing a slot A<SP>1</SP> engaging a shoulder J on the shank of the cutter K has the slot milled out of the holder a small distance back from its free end and cut away in the form of a sector at each side of the cutter axis so that the shoulder prevents axial movement of the cutter during rotation. The sides of the slot are inclined at, say, 20 degrees.
