Abstract

782,196. Cutters. DOBSON, J. Jan. 19, 1956 [Jan. 24, 1955], No. 2028/55. Class 83 (3). A spot - facing tool comprises a cutter 14, Fig. 4, with an axial opening 15 and a slotted diaphragm 16 to receive the tang 11 of an arbor 10, the faces of the tang being slotted at 12 so that the diametricallyopposite shoulders 13 thus formed may be lodged behind the diaphragm to retain the cutter thereupon, on partial rotation on the tang. Four slots 20 may be formed in the tang, Fig. 11, to enable the cutter to be retained in either direction of rotation for upper or lower spotfacing.
