639,093. Nutcrackers. POTTER, D. M. Feb. 23. 1948, No. 5255. Convention date, March 25, 1946. [Class 1281] Nuts are cracked by placing in a nut receptacle having a bottom wall 12 and upstanding side wall 14 and by means of a handle 22 turning a nut cracking unit 20 mounted eccentrically on a pin 18 itself eccentrically mounted in the bottom wall so that the nuts are crushed between the fluted side wall 14 and the cracking unit 20. The latter may be provided with a freely turnable sleeve 26 with vertical ridges and flutes. The unit 20 is releasably held in operative relation with the pin by coil springs around the pin in the bore of the unit 20.
