Abstract

638,726. Invalid chair and like bags. SAYERS, B. E. March 19, 1948, No. 8296. [Class 133] An invalid chair or like bag comprises a main body portion adapted to form the back 1 and sides 2 of the bag, and a frontpanel' portion 8 extending upwardly from a blank 3 forming the foot panel or gusset for the bag, the two side edges 11 of the front panel 8 being connected to the side edges 12 of the main body portion by quick fastening means such as zip fasteners, or lines of press button fasteners, or eyes cooperating with spring lever hooks. The front panel 8 has a pocket at the upper end formed by folding forwardly at 17 and backwardly at 18, being stitched to the panel 8 at the points 21. The back panel 1 has a top portion 14 formed by folding along the line 15, the transverse edges of the said portion being sewn down at each end for a distance approximately equal to the width of the side portions 2 2 . Into the pocket 16 thus formed a pillow or cushion may be inserted. The blank 3 forming the foot panel may have an external or internal stiffening plate of wood, e.g. plywood, leather, or sheet metal such as aluminium, fastened thereto, as by rivets. The bag may be made of any material, e.g. blanket or rug material, or of light canvas or other waterproof material, preferably lined with a fleecy or like material. The invention is also applicable to perambulators and push chairs.
