This invention relates generally to apparel garments and, more particularly, to a certain new and useful improvement in one-piece or combination appareLgarmentsfQr sports and street wear of the type which includes a waist, a skirt, and bloomers, the latter concealed in In view of the prevailing mode of slender hips and simple lines, the attachment of the bloomers to the waist ofgarments of the type stated usually heretofore, so far as I am aware, creates a fullness over the hips where fiat, slender lines are desired, detracting consequently from the fit and appearance of the garment. Such .a garment is also warm and uncomfortable over and around the hips by reason of the resulting double thickness of material. Further, such garments of thistype, as heretofore constructed, are awkward in Wear, in; that they do' not yield readily to movements of thebody and, finally, are somewhat expensive to manufacture' and difficult to fit, especially for quantity production.

My present invention has hence. for its chief objects the provision of a combination apparel garment embodying features of design and construction which avoid the faults' enumerated abovethe provision'ofa com-. bination garment especially, though .notexclusively, adapted for sports and street wear, that is cool, comfortable, and easily dressed and undressed, and which may be inexpensively constructed, is particularly easily fitted over the hips, and is generallyhighly satisfactory for the purposes intended.

And with the above and other objects in view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement,

1, 2, and 3, for overlapping body-concealing relation by the transverse panel 11, when the latter is in'raised or closed position, as best seen in Figure 2, the rear panels 4, 4e, being to such extent also stitched, as at (Z, to the front transverse panel 10, as shown.

At the opposite sides of the garment, the yokes or hip-panels 1.0, 11, are separate one from the other in the formation of plackets 17 over each hip, the drop-seat or rear panel 11 being adapted for detachable connection, as by means of suitable fastening elements or snaps 18, to the front panel 10, and the panels and 11, when so connected, forming, as may be said, a band-panel encircling the body, out and fashioned in such manner as to lay smooth and flat over and around the hips, conforming to the waist at its upper margin, having the requisite fullness to nevertheless fit snugly over the abdomen and buttocks, and having its lower margin, when so fitted on the body, disposed for supporting therefrom the skirt proper B and the enclosed bloomers C of the garment, both of which, being attached or joined to the upper portion of the garment at a point disposed when on the body below the bulge or fullness of the hips, may be readily cut and fashioned to drape or hang in easy, graceful lines, and, I might add, such as to largely avoid the necessity of pleats or tucks in the garment, by reason of which. as will be obvious, a considerable saving of material and labor is effected in the quantity production of the garment.

Further, by the structural employment of the transverse panels 10, 11, I am enabled to construct the skirt proper B from a very simple pattern comprising a'front panel 19 and a rear panel 20 seamed or stitched together longitudinally and at the sides of the garment, as at 21. And the bloomers C are similarly easily constructed froma pattern comprising apair of companion sections or panels 22 having their margins disposed and stitched together, as at 23, 26, in approximately the longitudinal center of the garment to provide the crotch 2a and leg-encircling members 25.

And in constructing the garment, the front transverse panel 10 is permanently stitched at and along its lower margin to both the respective upper margins of the front skirtpanel 19 and the front portions of the bloomer'panels 22, transversely the garment,

" as at 27, and, similarly, the rear transverse panel 11 at and along its lower margin is permanently attached to both the respective upper margins of the rear skirt-panel 20 and rear portions of the bloomer-panels 22,.transversely the garment, as at 28, the seams 27,

Preferably the bloomers are gathered by tucks 22 at the seams 27 and28 to provide suitable fullness thereat, but it will be seen that very little gathering of the bloomers C is re quired and such gathering may in the cheaper grade of garments, be wholly omitted.

It will be seen that, by connectingthebloomers C at the

27, 28, to the over-part of the garment, a very considerable saving in material and labor is effected and, further, the advantages gained by reason of the absence of tucks and pleats in the skirt apply substantially also to the bloomers, so that the entire garment may thus be assembled by the manufacturer in a highly efficient and economical manner.

And for further ease in assembling the garment, I provide at the upper side margins of the bloomers C lateral cutouts 29 disposed opposite the hips, thereby enabling convenient construction of the plackets 17, which are extended into the respective side skirt-seams 21 opposite the cut-outs 29 for providing an adequate opening of the drop-panel 11.

In use, a garment of my invention is dressed and undressed by simply undoing the garment at the back of the waist A and opening the drop-seat 11; and by my invention, I provide a one-piece or combination garment in which a waist and a skirt, the latter, in effect, substantially spaced from the waist, are conjoined or connected by horizontal or transverse panels adapted to fit over the hips, the skirt having concealed therein and covering a pair of bloomers also conjoined or connected to the hip-panels and likewise spaced from the waist, and one of the hip-panels being arranged as a drop-seat for both the skirt and the bloomers. Particularly I desire to point out the advantages of the hip-panel construction, and the cut-outs 29, provided where the bloomers join the sides of the garment, as I have fully hereinbefore set forth.

It will be seen that my new garment accomplishes its objects in a neat, comfortable, economical, and highly effective manner, as has been set forth from time to time as the description has proceeded, and it is to be also understood that changcs and modifications in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the garment may be made and substituted for those herein shown and describedwithout departing from the nature and principle of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by letters patent is 1. In a one-piece garment, a waist, a skirt spaced from the waist, and a pair of companion panels adapted to fit transversely around the body at the hips, one of said panels joining the waist and the skirt and the other of said panels being arranged as a drop-seat.

2. In a one-piece garment, a Waist, a skirt spaced from the waist,-bloo1ners disposed of said panels providing a drop-seat for the bloomers.

4. In a one-piece garment, a waist, a skirt spaced from the waist, companion panels adapted to fit transversely around the body at the hips, one of said panels joining the waist and the skirt, and-bloomers joined to said panels at the lower margins thereof, the other of said panels providing a drop-seat for the bloomers, said bloomers having placket cut-outs at the sides of the garment.

5. In a one-piece garment, companion panels adapted to fit transversely around the body at the hips, a waist joined to the upper margin of one of said panels, and a skirt joined to the lower margins of both said panels, said panels being divided by plackets at the hips.

6. In a one-piece garment, companion panels adapted to fit transversely around the body at the hips, a waist joined to the upper margin of one of said panels, a skirt joined 'to the lower margins of both said panels,

and bloomers joined also to the lower margins of both thepanels and disposed within the skirt.

7 In a one-piece garment, companion panels adapted to fit transversely around the body at the hips, a waist joined to'the upper margin of one of said panels, a skirt joined to j the lower margins ofboth said panels, bloomers joined also to the lower'marg'ins of both the panels, said bloomers having placket cutfastening means for detachably securing said drop-seat to the waist, and a body-encircling belt conjoined to the upper margin of said drop seat panel and foldable downwardly thereover for concealing said fastening means.

10. A one-piece garment comprising, in combination, a waist, a skirt, bloomers disposed within the skirt, and companion substantially horizontal panels conjoined to the waist, skirt, and bloomers for fitting transversely around and over the fullness of the hips, said skirt and said bloomers being spaced from the waist and supported by said panels below said fullness of the hips, said panels being divided by plackets at the hips to provide a drop-seat at the rear of the gar ment. 7 a

11. In a one-piece garment, a waist, a skirt conjoined to the waist and bloomers conjoined to the skirt in spaced relation to the waist, a portion of the skirt beingarranged as a drop-seat.
