Abstract

638,432. Phase changing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 2, 1947, No. 17478. Convention date, May 9, 1944. [Class 38 (ii)] A continuous phase-shift of 360 degrees is obtained by shifting tappings 15 and 11 in the circuit shown in Fig. 1, the load circuit being connected between points 12 and 13. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement by which rotation of an arm carrying these tappings will make the necessary changes in correct sequence, the resistance 14 being replaced by resistances 16, 17 in parallel. These resistances may have an approximately logarithmic taper to render the phase-shift uniform with angular movement.
