638,263. Door-operating appliances. WHITE, G. June 28, 1948, No. 17305. [Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] Means for facilitating the lowering or raising of the tailboard of a vehicle comprises a lever 10 which at one end is pivotally connected at 9 to a bracket 8 and at the other end bears against the underside of the tailboard, and brackets 11, 12 rigidly secured to or formed integrally with the lever and pivotally connected at 16 to a substantially horizontal rod 17 surrounded by a helical spring 19 bearing at one end against the bracket 6, the arrangement being such that during movement of the lever the connection 16 follows an arcuate path, the commencement and end of which is on a line coaxial with the rod.
