Abstract
638,217. Chain saws. TELES SMITH, Ltd., and BISHOP, C. Oct. 1, 1947, No. 26525. [Class 145 (ii)] In a saw chain especially for use in ripping mortising, " cross-set " link teeth, i.e. teeth with an inward set (3, 4, Fig. 5; 3a, 4a, Fig. 7) are interspersed with teeth having a normal ourtward set. The outwardly set teeth may comprise full cutter teeth 8 and half cutter teeth 9, i.e. teeth with an outward set less than that of the full cutter teeth (see Fig. 5), whilst raker teeth 7 may also be included. The teeth are back-raked and the cutter teeth bevelled; in the case of the crossset teeth the set is given preferably by bending the teeth away from the counterbored side of the link and their bevel has its lower edge preferably on the counterbored side (see Fig. 7).
