Abstract

637,885. Heating glass by electric resistances. COMPAGNIE DES LAMPES. Sept. 23, 1947, No. 25805. Convention date, Sept. 23, 1946. [Class 39 (iii)] A method of heating a glass bulb or similar article along a limited area only, comprises the rotation of the article 1 between a series of thread like resistances 18 pressing against its periphery and the subsequent removal of the resistances in order that the zone thus preheated may be brought into the field of a glass melting condenser. Each thread like resistance 18 is held at the end of an arm 2 pivoted on a fixed annular plate 3 surrounding the said article. Some fingers 7, arranged on an angularly displaceable plate 8 also surrounding the article, effect a rocking of the arms 2 against the action of springs 5 adapted to urge each heating element against the article. Specification 616,251 is referred to.
