637,655. Paper and like bags. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd. March 13, 1947, No. 7028. Convention date, July 24, 1940. [Class 94(ii)] A bag of thin foil, impermeable by the substance packed therein, has seams made by joining outward-turned edges 8 of the foil so that the seam is formed by a continuous layer of foil folded on itself. The material may be " Pliofilm " (Registered Trade Mark) or foils of vinyl resins in which a seam can be made by pressure and heat. Adhesives may be used. Pleats may be formed in the bag tube into which sheets of thin metal 10 are placed to prevent the layers of foil being stuck together before the base is formed. The base may be formed by lateral pressure of heated blocks, the corners 13 being made, each of two pieces of adhered foil 13 formed by the pleats. The corners 13 may be cut off except for a strip on each, which forms a seam between points 16, 17 or 16, 18. The bag may contain margarine, soft-soap or the like. Specification 637,654 and U.S.A.
