Abstract

631,634. Pouch-like containers. SHELLMAR PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Oct. 6, 1947, No. 26787. Convention date, June 27, 1940. [Class 133] A container in the form of a pouch is formed from laminated material, consisting of an inner layer 17 of thermoplastic rubber hydrochloride and an outer layer 18 of paper, metal foil or plastic material, the outer portions of each side of the pouch being folded inwardly at 15 and then outwardly at 16, the three bellows edges so formed then being thermally sealed. A web 10 of the laminated material is passed through a side-folding unit 14, cut into blank lengths by knives 21, and passed at increased speed by a conveyer 22 on to a platform 23 with a stop 24. A pivoted tucker blade 25 then folds an intermediate portion of the blank between pinch rollers 27, 28 and a conveyor 29 carries the blank into an intermittently operating edge-sealing machine 34, 35 with a stop 36. The pouch may then be filled and its mouth sealed as by means of heat and pressure.
