Abstract

Alkoxy silanes are obtained by reacting an aliphatic alcohol with a chloro silane in the presence of a tertiary amine, e.g. dimethyl aniline capable of readily forming a hydrochloride salt and thus preventing a secondary series of reactions resulting in hydrolysis of the alkoxy silane produced. A detailed example is given.
