[Class 140] [Also in Group XVII] Sealing discs for bottle or like closures are made by dipping rod-like blanks of composition cork in a bath of impregnation agent, e.g. melted paraffin wax, or rubber solution, evacuating air from cavities of the rods, before or after dipping, by means of vacuum, and then subjecting the rods, while in the bath, to atmospheric or higher pressure so that the cavities become filled, and thereafter cutting the rods crosswise into discs to which are applied " spots " of paper, tinfoil or the like. By controlling the pressure, the rods are impregnated to a certain depth so that the discs have a filled circumferential layer and an unfilled core which is covered by said " spot ".
