Abstract

Pores and cracks in inferior cork are filled with cork dust agglomerated with an aqueous dispersion of rubber, such as latex, which may be modified by the addition of a solvent or weak solution of rubber, casein, albumen, dextrin, or an aqueous dispersion of viscose or cellulose. Stoppers, floats, &c. may be thus treated by introducing the composition under pressure while evacuating air, and drying them in a revolving drum in the presence of dry cork dust.
