Abstract

For sticking nylon to nylon, an adhesive is used which is a solution of nylon in one or more phenols. Suitable solvents are phenol, the cresols, xylenols and polyphenols. Carbolic oil (B.P. 170-240 DEG C.) is a suitable mixture of phenols. The adhesives are particularly useful for joining nylon filaments, e.g. fishing casts. A specified adhesive is a solution of 1 part of nylon in 3.5 parts of cresol. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes the use as solvents of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons boiling above 160 DEG C. at atmospheric pressure. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
