[Class 29] I n absorption apparatus of the continuous cycle inert gas type having a pressure vessel 29, the condenser 13 is formed of superposed approximately horizontal pipe lengths in heat conductive relation with two heat radiating plates 26, 27 extending parallel thereto to form a cooling air shaft in which the pressure vessel is arranged. The sheet metal radiating plates are welded to profile members 28 which are welded to the condenser pipes. The pressure vessel is connected by a conduit 30 with the lower part of the condenser and by a pipe 33 with any part of the apparatus constantly filled with gas. The evaporator comprises a pipe coil 16 enclosed in a sheet metal housing 18, and is fed with refrigerant through a pipe 14 with a liquid seal 15. The vapour mixture formed in the evaporator flows through the outer jacket of the gas heat exchanger 17 and through a conduit 19 to the absorber vessel 20 and rises through the pipe coil absorber 21.
