634,176. Guiding webs. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Jan. 1, 1947, No. 69. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1943. [Class 100 (i)] A device, such as felt pads 3, 4 adjustably pressed together engages a thin film band 1 passing over a guide roller 2, to apply a braking force unsymmetrically to the band, whereby the opposite edge of the band engages a stop 5 situated near the roller. In modifications : (1) the band is supported at the edge near the stop 5 by a flange on the roller 2 ; a pressure roller engages one edge of the band and the stop 5 is to the left of the Fig. 2 position so as to engage the band on the curve, and (3) the brake consists of a curved piece of felt cut away at an angle.
