611,530. Guiding webs. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Feb. 5, 1946, No. 3584. Convention date, Feb. 8. 1945. [Class 100(i)] [Also in Group XX] Thin bands such as cellulose pictorial or sound films are guided transversely by being passed through a guide channel formed of two members 10, 9 separated from each other by a distance which slightly exceeds twice the thickness of the film, and the film is biassed so as to engage the edge of a rounded stop 8 which is arranged between the members 10, 9, and determines the distance apart of these members. The members 10, 9 may be formed of spring steel, and the member 10 may be secured to or form part of the picture gate. The member 9 preferably engages the edge only of the film and does not extend to the pictures 7. The edge 14 is rounded to permit of insertion of the film or band, the thickness of which is of the order of tens of microns.
