Abstract

608,915. Indicating-apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 2, 1946, No. 6564. Convention date, March 3, 1945. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In instruments having a scale and an index displaced by means of a cord along a curved guide path, the path is elliptical and the cord passes over pulleys at the foci of the ellipse. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, an index 3 on a plate 11 having a tail-piece 12 guided in a slot 10 in the elliptic surface of a wireless cabinet, co-operates with a scale 2 and is attached to a cord 8, 9 which passes over pulleys 6, at the foci of the ellipse 5. The cord is driven by a control 4 and may be endless, wound on a dram with springs to take up the slack or the two ends may be wound upon two drums geared together. A felt disc 14 reduces friction between the plate 11 and the cabinet. Specification 575,493, [Group XL], is referred to.
