Abstract

633,123. Sewing. SKILLINGTON, W. J., and WARNER, F. A. Sept. 17, 1947, No. 25344. [Class 112] [Also in Group XVII] Needle-threaders.-A body 1 has a longitudinal slot 3, in which slides a hooked thread-engaging member 5, and one or more transverse recesses 4 to receive needles with their eyes in line with the slot 3 so that the member 5 can pass through them, the member 5 being connected to a knob or operating member 8 which slides in a slotted part 10 of the body 1 so that its movement is limited. In the form shown the body is formed of two halves joined on a vertical plane through the slot and recesses, and the member 5 has adjacent to the handle 8 a pin 7 to prevent rotation. The slot 3 contains a stop member 16, to locate the needles, which can be taken out to allow easier removal of fluff, &c. from the device, and the member 5, with its handle and pin, is preferably also removable. The body 1 is notched at 11, 12 for insertion of the thread into the notch of the member 5 and its removal therefrom respectively. The lower portions of the recesses 4 are polygonal in section for proper location of the needles. The base 2 of the device may carry one or more posts for thread reels and also a cutting blade 18. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), a toothed wheel is carried by the body 1 on a spindle beneath the notch 12, the teeth being slotted to fit closely on either side of the member 5 so as to raise the thread therefrom as it is withdrawn from the needles.
